5. Note that there is ___ section on "how to ___ the _________ Curse" because as of ___, even the greatest _________ in the Department of ____ have not figured out an _________ way

True or False (10 points; 2 per question - if false, correct the sentence to make it true)
1. The Cruciatus Curse has no use other than being able to cause pain and suffering on a target.
2. Cruciatus used to be an integral part of palliative treatments performed at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and injuries.
3. The Cruciatus Curse was one of the most frequently used spells during the nineteenth century.
4. The mechanism of the Cruciatus Curse is nearly identical to that of the Imperius Curse.
5. Most trained wizards can effectively resist the Cruciatus Curse through intense concentration.
Short Answer (10 points)
The Cruciatus Curse worked as a palliative spell because it could directly replace a patient's pain with a much more soothing and calming sensation, making it easier for the patient to heal. In no fewer than 100 words, give another way to simulate the effects of the Cruciatus Curse for this use in healing. Remember to keep your answer HOL-appropriate (and DO NOT plagiarize directly from the example given in the lesson)!
NOTE: This writing assignment has historically been the trickiest portion of the entire course. Your goal is NOT to find another use for the Cruciatus Curse, but rather to find a different way to mimic the effect of that curse. If your method involves actually casting a Cruciatus, you are looking at this the wrong way!
EXTRA CREDIT (15 points each; choose up to 2)
PUZZLE OPTION: If you go over to THIS LINK, you will find a "visual sudoku" where the numbers are replaced by the letters in "CRUCIATUS". Because that word has two C's and two U's, one C and one U will be "white on black" instead of "black on white". Complete the sudoku and include a LINK to your completed puzzle, making sure to distinguish between the different types of C's and U's!
OPINION OPTION: Do you believe that it is possible to learn how to resist (or at least survive the effects of) the Cruciatus Curse? Why or why not? Explain your answer in no less than 175 words!
CREATIVE WRITING OPTION: Write a story of at least 250 words which features a Cruciatus curse used for a reason OTHER than to cause pain.
GRAPHICS OPTION: Create an image of any of the scenes in the Harry Potter books which shows either the usage or the after-effects of the Cruciatus Curse and include a LINK to your image!
