Case Study (10 points)
If you go to THIS LINK, you will find a Muggle comic that satirizes one of the Unforgivable Curses.
Alternatively, you can go to THIS LINK for a transcription of what is going on in that comic.
1) (2 points) Which Unforgivable Curse is demonstrated in this context?
2) (4 points) Considering everything you have learned about Unforgivable Curses in this course, do you believe the effect of Harry's words is realistic? Why or why not?
3) (4 points) Suppose that someone did manage to cause the effect depicted in this comic through the words Harry used while holding a Muggle object with both hands and barely touching their wand. What would you most likely conclude about that person?
[NOTE: As with every other assignment for this course, please let me know if you need an accessible alternative!]
Give me your opinion! (20 points; 10 per prompt)
Choose up to TWO of the prompts below to write about. Be creative; do not simply plagiarize from the lessons or Wikipedia! A minimum of 100 words is required for each prompt for full credit.
1) Towards the end of Harry Potter's second year, Lucius Malfoy tried to cast a spell on Harry after realizing that Harry had tricked Lucius into freeing his house-elf, Dobby. While there is no clear record of the spell Lucius tried to cast, some witnesses swear that Lucius attempted to cast the Killing Curse, Avada Kedavra. Do you agree with them? Why or why not?
2) According to current Ministry of Magic policy, casting any of the Unforgivable Curses on a human being for any reason is punishable by a life sentence in Azkaban. Do you agree or disagree with this policy - and why or why not?
3) Which of the three Unforgivable Curses is your personal favourite, and why?
4) While Harry Potter had a natural talent for resisting the Imperius Curse, he struggled with Occlumency. Given that both Imperius resistance and Occlumency are mental arts strongly relying on the control of your mind, why do you think that is?
5) Do you think that studying or practicing a skill while under the Imperius Curse be an effective way of learning the material or skill in question? Why or why not (and do you think it would make a difference if the person holding the curse on you already knew the material or skill)?
6) Is there any material in this course (either factual or opinion) that you personally disagree with? If so, why?

SURVEY (10 points)
This was my first original course, so of course I'm interested in hearing about your opinions about it! Answer the following questions with thought and include your answers with your final exam.
1) What was your favourite part of this course?
2) What was your least favourite part of this course?
3) Did you learn anything new about the Unforgivables from this course?
4) How, if at all, did this course differ from your expectations?
5) Is there anything you think I should add to this course (in terms of material or types of assignments, for example)?
NOTE: While the 10 points from the survey can help you make up points you lost from elsewhere in the class (so you can still win the Avada Kedavra award), I cannot award more than 300 points total for the class.
